Not Your Average Fundraiser!

Hello all! I am super excited to share with you an amazing organization I have come across.  Threads of Hope is a simple yet profitable way to raise funds for your sports team, school, band, whatever! Not only are you helping your cause that you are raising funds for, needy families from the Philippines benefit from it as well!

Here’s their purpose statement:

Threads of Hope assists the economically oppressed in under-developed countries to establish home enterprises that will provide an income, through the development of products that can be sold world-wide. Funds generated through sales and donations will primarily be used to help meet the physical, educational and spiritual needs of the communities where the products are made.

Here’s how it works:      (This is an excerpt taken from their website)

• You provide us with information concerning the nature of your fundraiser and the target amount you hope to raise.

• Upon evaluation and acceptance of your proposal we will require a responsible adult sponsor with references as a contact person.

• Threads of Hope, Inc. will ship merchandise and promotional materials to the sponsor upon their request.

• Your network of people find creativeways to sell the merchandise (we can offer suggestions that have been very successful in the past).
• Upon completion, you send Threads of Hope, Inc. a check equal to 50% of your sales (based on $2.00 for round bracelets and anklets, $4.00 for flat bracelets, and $4.00 for necklaces) and return all unsold merchandise.

*(For more info on fundraising with Threads of Hope, see their website)

Have you laughed today?

Once when I was younger, I certain brother and I decided we’d play “secret agents”. Sneaking around wearing all black was just too elementary for us, and we thought that we were ready for a bigger challenge. Since there was a wooden laundry shoot in the corner of my closet that lead to the basement, and it was just big enough for my seven year old self to fit in, we decided sending me down with rope tied around my waist was the greatest idea ever.

Needless to say, it didn’t work out too well.

My partner in crime didn’t lower me down too easy, I went crashing into the basement, taking a couple shelves and other items with me. And of course, my mother came rushing down the stairs to see what had fallen. She was surprised to find out it was me!

Although my wonderful mother was furious then, our whole family laughs uncontrollably every time we re-tell the story. I hope it brought a smile to your face, too!

Psalms 126:2 (KJV)

Then was our mouth filled with laughter, and our tongue with singing: then said they among the heathen, The Lord hath done great things for them.

If the Lord has done something great for you, share it! In Psalms it says others will know us by our joy—they see that happiness that only God can give.

So look on the bright side this beautiful Saturday—It’s not easy, but being positive is a choice. Laugh today, too 🙂

God bless, Katie 🙂

Celebrating Mom {Proverbs 29:15}

{To my mother: You’re such a wonderful mom, to ALL of your children! <3}

Proverbs 29:15 (KJV)

The rod and reproof give wisdom but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame.

. . .

I am so thankful for my wonderful mother, for the discipline she has given me (though it hurts–and sometimes doesn’t make sense) and that she cares enough to be apart of my life. I thought this would be a fantastic verse for today as we celebrate our mothers and the part they play in our lives.

Happy Mothers Day to all the mothers out there! Make sure to show some love to your mom today/tonight. 🙂

Love you, mom!

God bless, Katie 🙂
